Ongoing demurrage and detention capacity

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Nexus Logistics and Conlinxx, and in particular working with us over the past few weeks as we work our way through this busy period and the ongoing disruptions and delays we are seeing in the wider supply chain.

Based on our engagement with both our customers and various industry stakeholders, we don’t expect see an end to this peak until possibly mid-February. Many of you will also be aware of the current congestion across ports in New Zealand with over 66% of vessels off window as a result of upstream issues that lines are facing globally – we do not see any improvement to this situation in the short term either.

Our rail capacity to the Ports of Auckland is nearing its maximum, and we are currently experiencing severely long turn times at Metroport, which is hindering transport planning and having a negative impact to fleet productivity. With this peak season building fast and as a consequence of these ongoing issues in the supply chain, our own operations are coming under immense pressure. We are currently running close to capacity and expect this to increase in the coming weeks.

To mitigate these issues we are increasing our roading capacity and increasing operational hours at our inland port. However, we ask for your patience and understanding as the entire supply chain deals with the pressure of this year’s peak.

We take this opportunity to advise customers of the following;

  • We are unable extend free time for any customer at our inland port in South Auckland beyond existing contracted arrangements
  • We will not accept any demurrage or detention costs caused by issues or delays outside of our control
  • It is critical that all planning and cut-off times are met – we will not accept any liability for delays or additional costs as a result of late orders and deliveries
  • Planning is critical at this time – please continue to furnish us with as much forecast data as possible to aid our planning team

The Nexus Logistics customer service team is available for any operational requirements and special requests. Our email address is customer.services@nexuslogistics.nz or call us on 09-926-8600 and press 1.
